Mole Removal and Skin Cancer Treatments by Dermatologists

Lumps, Bumps, Moles, Skin Tags…..all easily removed at Canterbury Skin and Laser Clinic

There are over 2000 conditions affecting the skin. These may be lumps and bumps or skin rashes. Most lesions on the skin are benign, such as age spots, skin tags, warts, verrucas and benign moles. Some, however, can be life threatening if not diagnosed and treated early.

The most serious lesion on the skin is a Melanoma. If you have a mole that has changed in size, shape, colour or outline, or starts to itch or bleed, then you should have it checked out quickly to get an early diagnosis. In most cases, it will be a harmless mole rather than a Melanoma.

The Canterbury Skin and Laser Clinic accepts self-referrals as well as GP referrals to our team of Dermatologists. Dr. Mark Hudson-Peacock is a dermatological surgeon with an interest in skin cancers and can perform major excisions, flaps and grafts.

Some types of skin cancers such as superficial BCCs may be treatable with PDT(photodynamic therapy).

If you are worried about any of your moles, please call to make an appointment with our team of expert Dermatology specialists.

Our fee varies from £360 for removal of up to 2 benign moles with histology report to around £750 for a skin cancer removal. A more accurate quote will be given at the time of the assessment consultation to make the diagnosis and plan the treatment.redspotskin

A mole should never be removed and thrown away without histological analysis as a cost-reducing method, as potentially dangerous cases that would require further treatment  may be missed.

Other common lumps and bumps may be a cyst eg. an acne cyst, an epidermoid cyst, a pseudo cyst on the finger, a ganglion, a fleshy papilloma, a warty age spot, or some skin tags.

Skin tags can be easily removed by snip cautery and cost around £150 . Warty age spots may be treated with liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy), again costing around £150 per session. Flat age spots may be readily treated with 1 or 2 sessions using a pigment specific laser. Clearly a skin specialist has the knowledge to make the correct diagnosis and to advise on the most appropriate treatment plan. This ensures the best cosmetic result and most cost effective treatment.

Eczema and Psoriasis are the most common skin rashes. They can affect all age groups: men, women and children. The diagnosis is usually made fairly easily at the consultation but the management of these conditions can be challenging. However, there have been recent advances in topical (cream) and oral treatments for eczema and psoriasis, which our team of dermatologists can advise on.

Dermatologists are expert specialists, not only of the skin, but also of allergic conditions such as contact dermatitis, hair problems such as alopecia (hair loss), nail problems such as fungal nail conditions etc.

The initial consultation fee is £220. Follow up consultation fee is £120. We are recognised by all major Health Insurance providers.

If you have concerns about any of these areas, please call to make an appointment to see one of our specialists, as we are the only clinic in Kent with consultant dermatologists heading the team.
