Conditions WE TREAT WITH SKIN TIGHTENING:

skin tightening treatments IN CANTERBURY & KENT

Here at the Canterbury Skin and Laser Clinic, we can offer the Exilis Elite, the latest in radio frequency skin tightening for jowls and neck. Even after just one session, the Exilis Elite has been scientifically proven to measurably tighten skin and reduce wrinkles in a non-surgical procedure. Whilst it reduces wrinkles around the eyes and forehead, the jowls and neck are the most popular areas for facial contouring and lifting treatments.

Compared to the original Exilis device, the Exilis Elite delivers twice the energy and offers superior results in a shorter space of time. The Exilis Elite has been proven to be safe and effective through rigorous clinical studies and is approved by the FDA and can help in the reduction of fat in the face, neck or body. It won the best skin tightening award in both 2012 and 2013 and in 2014 it won the best skin tightening and body contouring award. This safe and comfortable skin tightening treatment is even suitable for treatment around the eyes. There is no downtime needed, with the treated area being slightly pink for only 30 minutes afterwards.

Skin tightening with the Exilis Elite is a great non-surgical alternative if you wish to tighten the skin or remove isolated areas of fat from the chin or body, but it won’t deliver the same results as a surgical neck or facelift. This treatment can be used to enhance or maintain surgical skin tightening procedures such as liposuction.

Our skin tightening treatment can be used on various parts of the body including the neck, jowls, face, body, arms, legs, knees and back. It is an excellent treatment for localised areas of fat reduction and body contouring. We have also had great results with stretch marks and cellulite reduction using a course of Exilis Elite treatment.

HOW DOES SKIN TIGHTENING TREATMENT WORK?

Exilis Elite uses Radio Frequency (not laser) to produce heat to tighten the skin of the face and neck. It uses a combination of radio frequency and ultrasound to break down the fat on the body. The fat is liquefied and metabolized in the liver and lymphatics. Precisely controlled radio frequency energy heats the deeper layers of your skin, causing collagen fibres to remodel and contract, with the result of lifting and tightening of loose skin. Fat cell membranes are broken down using Radiofrequency and ultrasound in a process called cavitation. When there is no subsequent significant weight gain, this reduction of fatty deposits is long lasting or even permanent. The Exilis’ advanced layering allows us to treat deep tissues all the way up to the superficial layer.

You will feel a deep heating sensation as the Exilis Elite device is guided over the target area. To keep you more comfortable during treatment, the underside of the applicator provides cooling to the skin’s surface. There is no peeling, bruising and no need for anaesthesia. The treated area will only feel slightly pink for around 30 minutes, and as there is no downtime or special care required after treatment, you can carry on with the rest of the day’s activities as normal.

We recommend a series of 4 sessions every 7-14 days. Immediately you can expect to see some lifting and tightening, but true collagen remodelling occurs over the subsequent 3 months for long lasting results. After your initial course of treatment, top up treatments 2-3 times a year will be enough to sustain it. When there is no significant change in weight, body contouring results can be long lasting, and sometimes permanent. However, the results are not guaranteed as there are many variable factors such as the quality of the skin, the amount of sun damage, the hydration level, current or previous smoking habits as well as genetic factors.

The initial course consists of 4 treatments at 1-2 weeks intervals, plus consolidation session at 12-14 weeks. Each session consists of a double pass treatment. (We treat for double the standard time in order to achieve better results, hence the double pass and longer treatment time than standard.)

The exact number of sessions needed depends on each individual patient and the area that they’re getting done. Many patients see their best results from between 4-8 sessions. You may be required to come back for a final session 3 months after your course of treatment and a lot of our patients often have a top-up before an important event.

All you have to do is make sure your skin is clean before your treatment: no lotions, creams, or makeup.

Treatments are extremely comfortable. Some have compared to the feeling of a relaxing hot stone massage. Some patients have even fallen asleep during their treatment.

The treatments are cumulative, which means you’ll need more than one to see long lasting results. After the final session in your treatment plan, your results will continue to develop for up to 3-4 months. However, your face and body will continue to age, so maintenance treatments are recommended once a month or every 3-4 months, depending on each individual person.

There is absolutely no downtime required. The area may look a little red and feel warm, but this should go away within one or two hours.
